Heat sinks or cooling profiles are used to dissipate heat generated by components. They serve to increase the effective surface area over which heat can escape to the surroundings, either through natural or forced convection.

Comb profiles are made by means of aluminium extrusion employing the latest manufacturing technology in the field of electronic cooling. Economical manufacture and low tooling costs make it possible to supply even small and medium-sized series of individually optimised heat sinks. Extruded profiles also allow you to specify the width of the heat sink or reduce the fin spacing.

Friction stir welding is used to make high-performance heat sinks that are more than 400 mm wide. This enables excess widths to be produced in a welding process without the use of additives and without loss of tensile strength. Since the process is done at temperatures below the melting point, undesired structural changes are avoided that can otherwise occur when the molten mass solidifies.
