Zurich Airport relies on Interact City
Over 2000 luminaires provide safety and visibility on the grounds of Zurich Airport. As part of the refurbishment, Zurich Airport's Electrical (Airfield Maintenance) group decided to use networked luminaires and an intelligent lighting management system. As a result, they are reducing maintenance from five days a month to five days a year, as the head of electrical systems tells us.
"With the use of networked LED luminaires and the CityTouch lighting management system, the maintenance required to check street lighting has been minimized from five days per month to five days per year. Our ultimate goal is to have all lighting fixtures equipped with networked fixtures and operating on continuous power."

The existing airport lighting is being replaced step by step with energy-efficient luminaires. In addition to the replacement of the existing luminaires, the construction and opening of "The Circle" saw the expansion of the exterior lighting. This stage included a wide variety of applications - illuminated with OptiVision and Clearflood floodlights and the DigiStreet family of luminaires for the various access roads:
Access Bus Station The Circle
GateGourmet
Freight East Delivery
Access REGA
Inputs and exits to parking garages
Customer feedback
"The luminaires are perceived as pleasant. The area is illuminated homogeneously and the light intensity can be increased or decreased as needed. Example: During the WEF, the airport is in increased readiness and we support our partners by actually switched off luminaires during the WEF to continuous light and increase the light intensity to 100%. We can simply respond to lighting requests much more flexibly today."

A major advantage of the networked luminaires is the uncomplicated control via the light management system. This means that the light intensity can be individually adjusted to the needs of the location at any time.
"We analyze the situation on site and feel our way to the right illuminance. For us, the following applies: Lighting only where necessary to keep light pollution low."
