A payment system for the modern community infrastructure of Kalkbreite

The Kalkbreite cooperative is located on the border of districts 3 and 4 in Zurich. An innovative residential quarter that specifically promotes new forms of living. Community is a top priority at Kalkbreite: There are 97 residential units on four floors with various shared infrastructures such as workplaces, recreation rooms, washing machines, gardens or the sauna. In order to simplify usage and provide consumer-friendly billing, the decision was made in favor of ELEKTRON's modern, expandable BICONT charging and fee machines.

Autonomous charging station for maximum flexibility

The "hub" is located in the entrance area of the cooperative. This information and coordination point was previously responsible for all billing in the laundry room as well as the sauna. With the installation of the modern BICONT 308 charging station, this administrative work is no longer necessary and the employees gain valuable time for other activities. Residents can recharge their keyfobs or RFID cards independently at any time. Tenants also benefit from simple and intuitive operation thanks to the functional design.

One billing solution for three areas of application

In the communal laundry room

In the communal laundry room, BICONT fee machines are in use. By simply holding the card up to the marker, the washing costs are debited directly from the credit balance. The management has the possibility to set different rates for washing machine or tumble dryer and thus to charge the costs according to consumption. In addition, the operator can, depending on the tenancy law, different parameters such as electricity costs, waste water, hot water in the tariff to calculate.

Shared sauna

For the shared sauna on the top floor, ELEKTRON programmed a BICONT 311. The latest generation of automatic charging machines impresses with its individual application options. For example, the display was adapted to the sauna usage.

Community coffee machine

To make payment simple and functional in all areas of the cooperative, the company also decided on a custom solution for the community coffee machine. ELEKTRON modified the RFID card to ensure comptability with another vendor's device. Thus, the tenant can conveniently operate the communal laundry, sauna and coffee machine with just one RFID card.

Project data

In use are the automatic charging machines BICONT 312 for the laundry room and BICONT 311 for the sauna.

The BICONT 308 is used for charging.
