LEDforFOOT: New funding program for environmentally friendly football pitch lighting
The Swiss Football Association SFA is setting an example for the environmentally friendly refurbishment of football pitches: The new funding program LEDforFOOT offers financial support for Swiss municipalities and sports clubs that want to renovate to LED. In cooperation with ProKilowatt and the Swiss Lighting Industry Association (FVB), the SFV has launched the LEDforFOOT 2024 project.
Most of the more than 2,000 competition football pitches are currently equipped with conventional floodlights. The Swiss Football Association (SFV) attaches great importance to sustainability and is therefore planning to push ahead with a comprehensive conversion to LED lighting systems over the next five years. This step will lead to a reduction in electricity consumption of up to 70% compared to conventional lighting systems.
Environmental protection is rewarded
Receive CHF 350 per replaced luminaire with LEDforFOOTIn order to benefit from the LEDforFoot funding program, the football pitch and the planned renovation must meet certain criteria.

- Only pitches where competitions are taking place can be considered

- Reduce overall lighting output by more than 30%
- Use a control with at least two levels (OFF, reduced, full)
