Light Academy 2024

This year's Light Academy took place at the AHA in Aarau on April 24, 2024. Over 70 lighting enthusiasts met in the Aeschbachhallen to listen to the exciting presentations. Many thanks to all participants, speakers and energylight for the successful lighting seminar.

Our location looks back on over 100 years of history: after the former production of kneading machines was discontinued, the hall stood empty for a long time. This is where old and new come together: in the years that followed, "underground parties" took place in the premises, as the many graffiti on the walls still remind us today.

Exciting presentations on sustainability, the circular economy and solar energy

The path to the circulation light

In the last presentation, Peter Schwägli talked about the first steps towards making luminaires circular. This means giving street lights a second life by upgrading them. This has already been successfully tested at ELEKTRON in a preliminary project with the popular Modalux, Iridium and Luma luminaires.

Sustainability is not a project. It is a transformation that we have to do something about. Participation is the be-all and end-all of the circular economy.

Peter Schwägli, Managing Director Smart City & Licht ELEKTRON AG

The "Upcycle" luminaires from the preliminary project could be viewed in more detail in the accompanying exhibition.

At the end of the Academy, we all met up in the "Markthalle" for a stand-up lunch.

Many thanks for your support

energylight - less energy for a better light

The Light Academy 2024 was supported by the SLG's energylight initiative. energylight has set itself the goal of halving electricity consumption for lighting with the right combination of LEDs, sensor technology and daylight, thus putting the Davos 2018 agreement into practice. Together with its partners, the Schweizer Licht Gesellschaft SLG is helping to save 3500 GWh/a, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of more than 1 million households.
