Münchwilen installs climate-neutral Luma and nostalgic BadenCity - including Eagle Eye radar sensors
Münchwilen (AG) is refurbishing its entire street lighting in 2021. The municipality not only opted for efficient LED luminaires with an intelligent control system, but also for the first climate-neutral street luminaires on the market, setting new standards in sustainable street lighting.
The installation of the new lights and the partial restoration of the fir-green candelabras is already in full swing. All 167 sodium vapor lamps in the municipality are being replaced by climate-neutral Luma as well as nostalgic BadenCity luminaires, which "...are nostalgic in appearance but equipped with the latest technology," as Bruno Winkler, project manager AEW tells us. Together with his team of network electricians, the new light points are now being installed in stages. Both types of luminaires are already equipped ex works with two interfaces for the installation of light controllers and sensors.
We were allowed to accompany the AEW at work for a morning and witness on site how old sodium vapor lamps are replaced by state-of-the-art LED lights. And asked the network electricians:
At the same time, area-thinking Eagle Eye radar sensors are mounted directly on the luminaires. In this way, the light on the streets of Münchwilen can be controlled in the future according to movement and unnecessary light pollution can be avoided.
