Multi-family house saves electricity costs thanks to efficient solar storage system
Using solar energy when electricity is needed. This is possible in this apartment building in Buchrain (LU) since the end of May with the newly installed 17.76 kWh solar storage. Thanks to the powerful battery storage combined with a 20kW hybrid inverter, the MFH was self-sufficient during the summer months. This means no additional power had to be fed from the grid and consequently the usual energy costs could be reduced to a minimum.
62 installed PV modules are good, in combination with a powerful battery storage and optimal hybrid inverter excellent. Because this saves electricity costs, because solar energy can be used around the clock. And not only when the sun shines.
The solar power produced by the installed PV modules on the flat roof of the MFH is stored in a battery storage system with a capacity of 17.76 kWh. A latest generation 20kW hybrid inverter was used to harness and store the PV energy.
Thus, during the summer months, it was possible to cover the entire own demand of the apartment building with three parties - and even more: during this warm, sunny summer, additional electricity equal to the consumption of three households was produced and fed back into the grid.
By the way, the owners can follow the entire solar energy management in real time in the clear energy portal.
