Even more space for startups in Wädenswil - Fourth location in Au ZH
.Wädenswil is increasingly becoming a center for young life science companies. Only last year, the founder organization grow announced that a third location is being built at Schönenbergstrasse 12 in Wädenswil. Now, due to high demand, a fourth location is planned in Au ZH on the premises of ELEKTRON AG.
In a first step, ELEKTRON AG is providing the startup organization grow with around 1100 square meters for two new startups at Riedhofstrasse 11 in Au. Araris Biotech AG is a spin-off of ETH Zurich and the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and researches novel antibody agents. Nemis Technologies AG, on the other hand, develops diagnostic solutions to detect pathogenic bacteria in food. Both companies are growing rapidly. Customized laboratories and office space for them are therefore to be built in Au as soon as possible.
The application for the building permit has already been submitted, and project manager and architect Jonas Eberhard has begun planning. ELEKTRON AG, a leading Swiss technology company in the energy and infrastructure market, has been located at Riedhofstrasse 11 since 1972.

To ensure that the start-ups have the right conditions for their research, ELEKTRON AG, as the owner of the buildings, is financing the conversion. "For us, the settlement of the two start-ups is an investment in the future and a commitment to Wädenswil as a business location," Baumann said. "We work closely with Tuwag Immobilien and thus benefit from their specific know-how, which is needed for the settlement of life science startups."
Tuwag has years of experience with grow companies. Until 2018, the Tuwag site was the only official grow location. Since then, the second location at Zugerstrasse 76 has been added, and the third location at Schönenbergstrasse 12 is nearing completion. Soon Mirai Foods AG and Welmedis GmbH will move in here. Grow CEO Dolf van Loon is very pleased with the current development of the founding organization:

ELEKTRON would pre-finance the conversion costs for laboratory and office space. The two companies would then rent the space.
"In the past five years, the growth of grow has picked up significantly," confirms Wädenswil's city president Philipp Kutter, who is also a member of grow's foundation board. "And I am pleased that we have now succeeded in defining the fourth grow location." The search for additional space will remain topical, he said. "There are signs of further growth despite the Corona pandemic, which is extremely positive for research and the economy in and around Wädenswil."
