Vacon NX Common DC Bus
The VACON® NXP DC bus frequency converter offering includes a range of Active Front End (AFE), inverter and braking chopper units. These ensure efficient use and forwarding of all energy in a system.
DC bus components can be used in many different combinations. In a regenerative DC bus system, the solution feeds energy back into the grid using Active Front End. It is particularly suitable for processes in which frequent braking is required and the braking power is relatively high.
In a non-generative system, the braking power is distributed to the other frequency converters in the system. Any excess current can be dissipated in the form of heat using an optional braking chopper and braking resistors. This is ideal for small production lines where braking operations are less frequent.
Available configurations
Configurations are available for active front end (NXA), non-regenerative front end (NXN), brake chopper (NXB), and inverter (NXI)
Features and benefits NX Common DC Bus
- Lower energy costs as the regenerative front-end feeds excess braking power back into the grid
- Lower capital cost, as fewer power cables and a shorter installation time are required
- Cost and space savings, as optimized module design reduces additional engineering effort and requires less cabinet space
- Reduced system complexity due to five integrated expansion slots for additional I/O boards, fieldbus boards, and functional safety boards
- The Active Front End improves the drive's setting tolerance for voltage dips/dips and minimizes harmonic distortion
- Easy installation of compact optional boards
